Ind vs Aus BG Series begins with a bang
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has begun with a bang. A riveting day’s play and though Australia won the first two sessions, India grabbed the third session and at the end of the Day’s play appear to have taken a stride ahead of the Aussies.
Nervy India put on 150
Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and elected to bat and a nervy India just could not get out of the blocks. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal did not trouble the scorers, Virat Kohli continued with his wretched form and eventually the ever dependable Rishabh Pant and the impressive debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy ensured India reached 150. The bowling looked ominous with the trio of Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins making play difficult. Mitchell Marsh too chipped in with a couple.
Incredible Bumrah & Vulnerable Aussies
The play of the day however belonged to Jasprit Bumrah. Leading from the front Bumrah was simply unplayable. The Aussies looked vulnerable against and Bumrah seized the initiative with an exceptional bowling performance. He swung the ball both ways and was incredible with his lengths. Khawaja, McSweeney, Smith ( first ball ) and Cummins had no answers to the Indian Captain. Harshit Rana bowled a beauty to clean up Travis Head and the hardworking Siraj accounted for Labuschagne and Mitch Marsh. Marnus Labuschagne was in a terribly defensive mood and scored just 2 of 52 balls.
Great Opportunity For India
With Australia at 67/7, India are 83 runs ahead and have a great opportunity to take a sizeable lead in this test match. Alex Carey is holding fort. India would be more than happy to see his back early tomorrow.
An incredible day’s play indeed.
