Jaiswal – Rahul Grind Aussie Bowling on Day 2. India in Pole Position

Jaiswal – Rahul Shatter Records

A performance to remember by India as the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul went about shattering records and demoralising the much famed Australian bowling attack. The duo played out two full sessions to secure India and ensure the momentum strongly in their favour. At 172 for no loss at the end of Day 2, Indians were ahead by a massive 218 runs with all their wickets intact. They are far ahead in the game with Australia left to play just ‘catch up’ cricket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Proves His Credentials Yet Again

Yashasvi Jaiswal proved yet again that his credentials are resolute and he is there to stay. His first visit Down Under and a duck in the first innings did not deter the young southpaw as he grafted and denied Australia. In touching distance of a famous century ( 90*), Jaiswal has impressed all and sundry more with his temperament and determination than his already famous stroke play.

KL Rahul’s Exemplary Composure

KL Rahul giving good company to Jaiswal has effectively saved a sagging career. A player with huge potential and having the requisite experience to deal with the situation in Australia, Rahul showed exemplary composure and  commitment. The duo virtually have taken India to an invincible position in this test match, after India made short work of Australia this morning, with the brilliant Bumrah scalping a Fifer yet again.

No Bite For Australian Bowlers

Australia with a dried pitch and easy conditions to bat could get nothing going their way. There was no swing or lateral movement and once the Kookaburra ball passed the 20 over mark, it had no bite left with its subdued seam. The bowlers tried hard and kept the batters quiet for long periods, but just could not breakthrough the solid defenses of Jaiswal and Rahul.

The Aussies Are In For A Hard Grind

Unless India do something rash, which I do not foresee happening, Australia are in for a long hard grind tomorrow and with it a mountain to climb when they begin to bat. The pitch might just break up by the 4th day and India with their tails up would be shoring up to record a resounding win at the Optus Stadium.

Jaiswal & Rahul, The Stars in the Perth Sky

Perth’s night belongs to India today and Jaiswal and Rahul are its luminous stars.
