Arsenal Came Looking For A Win
Arsenal arrived at Stamford Bridge a bit battered and bruised. They had lost two consecutive games before their fixture against Chelsea last night. A loss to Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League and to Newcastle in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta was looking to get back to winning ways.
A Tight Contest at Stamford Bridge
On the other hand Chelsea had had a chequered few weeks. Some good victories interspersed with a loss to Newcastle in the EFL Round of 16. Both teams were looking for a win to further consolidate their position on the premier league table and the match turned out to be a well fought slugfest
Martinelli Puts Arsenal Ahead
Kai Havertz scored in the first half for Arsenal, just to be denied by VAR. However, Arsenal went ahead with a fine move and a cool finish by Gabriel Martinelli in the 60th minute.

A Pedro Neto Stunner Equalises For Chelsea
Chelsea came back strongly just 10 minutes from a great strike by Pedro Neto. The Portugese, allowed space outside the box by a momentarily lax Arsenal defense, and unleashed a powerful left footer which sped off the turf in no time beating the goalkeeper with ease. Chelsea had equalised. In my opinion it was the goal of the week. Such power and precise finishing was a treat to watch from Neto.
Arsenal Miss Chances & Chelsea Hold On
Arsenal then unleashed a series of attacks only to be denied by poor finishing on their part. Several chances went a begging. Even sitters were missed and Chelsea held on to a hard fought draw. Neto’s magic had denied the Gunners a win at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal were tested too, but they survived as well. The Goalkeeping from both teams was good, making some spectacular saves to deny the opposition.

A Traffic Jam On The EPL Table
The draw resulted in 4 teams stuck on 19 points with Chelsea and Arsenal occupying the 3rd and 4th positions respectively followed by Nottingham Forest and Brighton on the EPL Leader board.
With a 2 week break coming up, the teams would get some deserved rest and time for some serious introspection.
