Unprecedented Success under Guardiola
On the 1st of February 2016, Pep Guardiola was announced to take over Managerial responsibilities at Manchester City. His first year was a subdued one, but the following season proved to be the start of unprecedented success for City under Guardiola.
Winning The Continental Treble
The Club, between the 2017-18 and 23-24 Premier League Seasons, won 6 out of a possible 7 titles, only finishing second behind Liverpool in the 2019-20 season. Guardiola guided City to a domestic treble of English Titles in 2018-19 and completed a mammoth Continental treble in 2022-23 when they won the UEFA Champions League in Istanbul beating Inter Milan in the final. On the road to the final Manchester City had got the better of European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Fatigue Is Setting In For City
Manchester City have been virtually Invictus and have dominated English and European Football like no other club. Their consistency in winning games has been exceptional, with hardly any aberrations. In this humanly possible was the question bothering me. For how long can this last? The winning fatigue had to set in and with 4 straight losses in 11 days in three different competitions, I fear the mantle is shaking. The fatigue is settling in.
City & The Winning Reputation
Manchester City is a team that has cultivated a reputation for winning every time it takes the field against any opposition in the world. The pressure of living up to this reputation is immense. Pep Guardiola has been brilliant in handling this pressure, through his tactical acumen, extremely skilled players, organized football, and positive outlook, thus making winning a habit.

Pep Is ‘Winning Fatigued’
But you get bored of habits too. Manchester City, though people might disagree has got bored of winning. What is left to be achieved for them? Where is the next challenge coming from? Where is the motivation? For Pep Guardiola the fatigue of winning is writ large. I was surprised that he continued to manage City after the Continental Treble. More than the players it is Pep who is tired. He has given it all to the Club. He has already achieved greatness and legendary status and it is time he let go of his shadow on the Club.
A Change Is Needed At City
It would be very difficult for them to revitalize themselves and come back to winning ways. Though they are perfectly capable of doing it, it all depends on the measure of fatigue they are suffering from. The locker room atmosphere might just spill the beans.
Manchester City needs change.

They can still be the machine again. I think what has stopped them this season is signing players for the money they were spending. It could be due to the premier league’s financial play rules and the case hanging over city’s head. I think Peps probably feeling I’ve done it all here anyway. He probably needs time out before his next project, hopefully transforming PSG into what they want to become or AC Milan into giants again. Then onto Spain and World Cup, Euros before retirement as the best ever. The Einstein of football.
I totally agree with you 💯
