When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?
When I think of the word ‘successful’, my father is the one who comes to my mind in a flash. There is a long list of people I know and have read about, but no one can come before him. My father has to be the first.
Losing his mother to smallpox when just 4, my father had a difficult childhood, literally motherless as he unfortunately was devoid of the unselfish love and warmth of a mother. The travails were hard as he and his elder brother began to script and rebuild their lives brick by brick.
They pursued education and my father, supported by his brother and a dear friend and loads and loads of hard work to boot, became a meritorious student and then a fine officer at a prestigious institution in the country.

He came a long way by sheer determination and focus and ensured a good life for his children. What a tremendous story my father’s life is. This is what success is all about.
