Devils’ Crest anime premieres November 6, 2026, on Prime Video. Explore its story, Production I.G animation, voice cast, and Ado opening theme.
Devils’ Crest, the upcoming anime adaptation of Reki Kawahara’s light novel series, is scheduled to premiere worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on November 6, 2026. The series is produced by Production I.G and follows a group of students who discover that the boundary between a virtual reality game and the real world has begun to disappear.
The anime has attracted attention because Kawahara is also the creator of Sword Art Online and Accel World, two franchises known for exploring the relationship between people and virtual environments. However, Devils’ Crest introduces a different scenario involving mixed reality, where dangerous events inside a game begin affecting the characters’ physical surroundings.

What Is Devils’ Crest About?
The story revolves around Yuuma Ashihara, a student who participates in a test session for Actual Magic, a revolutionary virtual reality multiplayer game. The technology allows players to enter an immersive digital environment where they can interact with other participants and experience the game through their senses. Yuuma joins the test alongside his classmates, including Sawa Ashihara, Kenji Kondou, and Minagi Sano. The group works together to complete a boss battle, expecting to return to their ordinary lives once the session ends.
However, their situation changes when the boundaries separating the game from reality begin to collapse. Elements associated with Actual Magic start appearing in the physical world, leaving the students uncertain about what is real and what remains part of the virtual environment. The unusual circumstances force the characters to confront dangers they were never prepared to face outside a game. Their knowledge of Actual Magic becomes increasingly important as they attempt to understand the changes affecting their surroundings.

Although the premise shares some similarities with Sword Art Online, the central conflict is different. Rather than simply trapping players inside a virtual world, Devils’ Crest explores what happens when digital experiences begin influencing reality itself. The official promotional material highlights this contrast by showing the characters enjoying their virtual adventure before revealing the unsettling changes taking place around them. The anime is based on Kawahara’s light novels, illustrated by Yukiko Horiguchi, and introduces a new fictional universe rather than continuing an existing storyline from Sword Art Online.

Release Date, Voice Cast, and Music
Devils’ Crest will begin streaming worldwide through Prime Video on November 6, 2026. Amazon has confirmed exclusive global distribution, although exact release times and available language options may differ between countries. The singer has previously received international recognition for her contributions to anime-related music projects, including songs associated with One Piece Film: Red.
With the series arriving on Prime Video, viewers will soon discover whether Kawahara’s latest virtual reality story can establish its own identity. How will Yuuma and his classmates survive when the dangers they once faced inside a game begin appearing in the real world?
