India has a deep pool of young cricketing talent, and several players are already making a mark in the IPL, in age-group cricket and in India A squads. This list is a subjective selection of 10 youngsters worth following, drawn from recent rankings and squad announcements. Ages and stats change quickly, so check official scorecards for the latest.

  1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old left-hander made his India debut in 2026 and is widely ranked first among young Indian players. Read our full look at his path to stardom.
  2. Ayush Mhatre. The Mumbai opener captained India to the 2026 Under-19 World Cup title. He also scored 240 runs in seven matches for Chennai Super Kings in 2025, after a 32 off 15 balls on IPL debut.
  3. Tilak Varma. Already an India international, he has been named captain of India A for the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha, from November 19 to 29, with Rajat Patidar as his deputy.
  4. Nitish Kumar Reddy. The 23-year-old Andhra seam-bowling all-rounder is regularly included in young-player rankings.
  5. Abhishek Sharma. The explosive Sunrisers Hyderabad opener is part of the India A squad for the Rising Stars tournament.
  6. Prabhsimran Singh. The wicketkeeper-batter is another member of the India A squad.
  7. Kumar Kushagra. A young wicketkeeper in the same squad, named among the players closest to further representative honors in one 2026 ranking.
  8. Shaik Rasheed. A batter listed in the same ranking among those closest to the national set-up.
  9. Ravichandran Smaran. Another young batter in that ranking’s top group.
  10. Kartik Sharma. The 19-year-old all-rounder plays for Chennai Super Kings and appears on lists of the youngest players to watch.

The names beyond the top four are included mainly on the strength of squad selections and ranking lists rather than long international records, so their futures are less certain. For how domestic cricket feeds this pipeline, see our guide to the Ranji Trophy.
