It Remains 1-1 At Elland Road

Dominic Calvert-Lewin did it again. Leeds’ in-form striker rescued a point at a rocking Elland Road, while Michael Carrick’s Manchester United let a rare lead slip and left Yorkshire with the crisis talk still swirling.

First Half: United Take The Lead

United came out cautiously, and Leeds had the better of the early play. Bruno Fernandes was booked for a late lunge on Tarik Muharemović, and Senne Lammens made a good save to deny Nico Elvedi. Bryan Mbeumo had a header go just wide on 27 minutes, then made no mistake eight minutes later, finishing a Youri Tielemans assist for his fourth goal of the season. It was United’s first half-time lead in the league this season.

Second Half: Elland Road Erupts

The lead didn’t last long. Six minutes after the restart, a Leeds corner was headed on by Muharemović, Harry Maguire couldn’t clear it, and Calvert-Lewin smashed it home. It was his seventh goal in seven Premier League appearances, and his 99th career strike. Leeds kept pushing, with Noah Okafor firing over and Lukas Nmecha coming on to chase a winner. United’s late chances, including a shot from Amad Diallo and a drag wide from Fernandes, weren’t enough either way.

Key Talking Points

Martínez at the break: Lisandro Martínez was started despite his midweek criticism after the Atlético Madrid defeat and was taken off at half-time.

Carrick’s gamble: Mason Mount replaced Carlos Baleba in a more attacking move, but United never found the second goal.

Calvert-Lewin’s home form: He has now scored in six of his last seven home Premier League games.

The Verdict

A fair result, but Leeds were on top for long spells after the break and could have won it. For United, it was another missed chance to build momentum, and it keeps the questions over Carrick’s side alive. For Daniel Farke’s Leeds, it’s a point that confirms Elland Road is a tough place to visit. Leeds stay at 7th while Manchester United move to 13th on the EPL Table.
