Avengers: Doomsday is not out until December 18, 2026, and no critics have publicly reviewed it. What exists so far is a mix of reported test screenings, unverified claims and at least one parody post.
What Has Been Reported
In April, reports said Marvel Studios held a private screening of a pre-reshoots cut for Kevin Feige and select staff, and that attendees were pleased. Entertainment sites repeated the claim, though it came from insiders and has not been confirmed by Marvel.
More recently, scooper Daniel Richtman said the film has held three test screenings and that reactions were good. A separate scooper claimed one screening scored higher than Avengers: Endgame. That claim remains unverified.
The Claims You Should Doubt
On October 12, an X account posted that Disney was panicking and that viewers called the film a humorless bloodbath. Reader-added context on the post says it came from a self-described parody account. Geeks + Gamers also found no verified evidence that executives were worried or that negative reactions came from identifiable attendees.
Another report, covered by ComingSoon, says Disney executives are happy with the film. Treat that as a rumor too.
Why Test Screening Buzz Is Unreliable
Test screenings are filled with invited viewers and used to adjust the film. Studios do not publish the scores, and the cut shown can change before release. The version reportedly screened in April predated reshoots, so early impressions may not match the final film.
What We Do Know
The Russo brothers direct from a screenplay by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom, and you can read about his new look in our earlier coverage. The film opens on the same day as Dune: Part Three.
When Will Real Reactions Arrive?
Reliable reactions will come from social media embargoes and professional reviews, which one outlet expects in early to mid December. Until then, the fair summary is promising rumors and no verified numbers.
