Is Dr. Stone Getting a Sequel Anime?
Yes. Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING is officially in production and will continue the story beyond the conclusion of the main television anime. The original series finished airing on June 25, 2026, adapting the main manga’s ending. The newly announced project will instead adapt the additional TERRAFORMING chapter written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi. That means this is not simply another season adapting the next major arc. It is an adaptation of a specific epilogue story that explores what happens after the original adventure concludes.
What Is the Terraforming Story About?
Manga spoilers ahead.
The TERRAFORMING chapter begins with Senku waking up alone in the middle of the ocean. He has no land or ship in sight and cannot remember how he ended up there. Faced with an apparently hopeless survival situation, Senku relies on his scientific knowledge to stay alive. Rather than surrendering, he considers how to establish a settlement and build civilisation from scratch in the middle of the ocean.
The premise returns to one of the series’ central ideas: scientific knowledge can turn an impossible situation into a challenge worth solving. The adaptation’s announcement trailer offers only a brief glimpse of the new adventure. It does not reveal how the complete story will unfold, so viewers should wait for further footage before drawing conclusions about the anime’s scope.

When Will Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING Release?
There is no confirmed release date or release window as of October 11, 2026. Its staff, voice cast announcements, and streaming arrangements have not been fully detailed either. The project’s existence is confirmed, but claims about a 2027 premiere or a specific episode count remain speculation.
Is Dr. Stone Really Over?
The main television adaptation has concluded, but the franchise now has another story to bring to the screen. TERRAFORMING will revisit Senku’s scientific problem-solving after the main storyline, offering fans a new adventure without suggesting that the original ending has been discarded.
