Cunningham responded by posting a video of herself chugging a drink courtside at the WNBA All-Star Game in July with the response that she has received this question a lot. She joked that she thinks it is because she is a rat and an embarrassment to society. She also mentioned that the drink was all ice and does not do her skills any justice. She added that back to being not married, it will happen before she dies.

The Fever acquired Cunningham along with the number 19 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft in a trade with Phoenix. She was introduced to the media and shared her enthusiasm over the move. Cunningham said she thinks it is refreshing, having been in Phoenix the last six years. She mentioned she had a really great time and was very blessed with being around a lot of greats in the game and learning the game on another level. She noted that this is a new style and it is the style that she thrives in.
