Luis Enrique’s PSG are hell-bent on rewriting the history books. The Champions of France, the Champions of Europe in successive seasons and now the winners of the UEFA Super Cup twice in a row, PSG are virtually leaving no silverware for the rest of the Club Football fraternity.
A Kvaratskhelia Rocket Stuns Villa in Salzburg
A rocket from the ever-impressive Georgian, Kvaratskhelia, helped PSG draw first blood against the Villans last night at the vociferous Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria. The one-off UEFA Super Cup witnessed PSG fielding a strong squad against a new-look Aston Villa.
The Young Madjo Scores But A Doue Strike Seals It
For the Villans, their young sensation, the 6’4″ tall, 17-year-old Brian Madjo equalised after wasting a plethora of chances, before a brilliant pass from Ousmane Dembele cut through the Villan defence playing for offside, and presented an easy chance for Desire Doue to score. The Frenchman did not disappoint.
PSG Fight & Win the Super Cup
Aston Villa came hard at PSG and played some splendid football, but Safonov and the defending champions held their nerve. The Villans were denied, and PSG emerged 2-1 winners.
PSG Need To Take On Spain
Watching PSG on a winning spree for the last two years led me to think of a contest which could generate some extraordinary attention from football fans across the World. Spain, the World and European Champions, against PSG. Luis de la Fuente against Luis Enrique. Lamine Yamal against Achraf Hakimi and Rodri against Vitinha.
I Propose The Colossal Cup
It would be a contest of mammoth proportions. The best national side against the best club in the world. Just imagine what a money spinner it would be, notwithstanding the joy of watching such a contest. I would name it the Colossal Cup.
