Mikel Oyarzabal scores for Spain against Saudi Arabia
Oyarzabal Takes Over Atlanta

Mikel Oyarzabal virtually took over the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta as he led a resurgent Spain against Saudi Arabia in a crucial Group H game.

Lamine Yamal Scores His First World Cup Goal

The match also witnessed Lamine Yamal’s first World Cup as the teenager became the youngest Spaniard to score a goal for his country in a World Cup.

A Treat To Watch

Oyarzabal, the Real Sociedad striker, was in brutal form as if possessed by some heavenly force. The ball kept coming to him, and he made all the moves as Spain attacked the Saudi goal with utter disdain. His ball control was exemplary, and coupled with pace and vision, Oyarzabal was a treat to watch.

The Yamal goal opens floodgates

A perfect centre from Oyarzabal and a cool finish from Lamine Yamal in the 10th minute opened the floodgates as Saudi Arabia found it extremely challenging to protect their goal.

Oyarzabal Scores A Brace

The Spaniards were not slowing down, moving like a rampant horde in tandem towards the Saudi goal. The hordes kept on coming, and eventually the Saudi resistance broke with Oyarzabal netting two back-to-back goals from point-blank range. By the 24th minute, Spain had already taken a 3-0 lead.

Shaken Saudis Respond

The Saudis were completely shaken as they began to fight for the ball and make a few good moves of their own. The momentum which Spain built appeared to lose a bit of steam as halftime approached.

An Own Goal Adds More Misery To Saudi Arabia

An own goal in the 49th minute gave Spain a 4-0 lead. The Spaniards kept pressure on the Saudi goal, but could not score. The Saudis, too, were busy defending and went scoreless.

A Statement From Spain

Spain, who were held to a goalless draw by Cape Verde, made a strong statement and played like Champions to dismantle Saudi Arabia and take the top spot in Group H.

Saudi Arabia Face a Formidable Cape Verde Challenge Next

Saudi Arabia will have to beat a strong Cape Verde side next week to progress to the next round. That will be a big, big challenge for the Greens.

A match to remember for Mikel Oyarzabal.
