PSG Win A 9 Goal Epic Against Bayern… But Only Just

Kvaratskhelia scores as PSG Beat Bayern in Paris
The Most Enchanting of Nights in UEFA CL

Last night in Paris was one of the most enchanting nights in the history of Champions League football, when two incredible teams, PSG and Bayern, played out an epic encounter at the Parc des Princes.

Football At Its Best

The 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League 25/26 semifinal will always be remembered for the quality of football, the highest level of unabashed talent and skill on the field and an amazingly electrifying atmosphere.

An Audacious Slugfest

I had mentioned in my preview of the attacking skills of both teams, which in no uncertain terms surfaced audaciously last night. The defence at both ends was subjected to severe pressure, as players got engaged in a mighty slugfest.

Harry Kane & Kavartshkelia Score

Bayen took the lead through a Harry Kane penalty ( the Englishman hardly ever misses), which stirred a tremendous contest. A few minutes later, Kvaratskhelia netted a sublime finish. It was a tremendous strike from the Georgian.

Neves Gives PSG the Lead, But Olise Fires A Gem for Bayern

Joao Neves scored with an exceptional header from a Dembele corner to make it 2-1, but then the incredible Michael Olise equalised for Bayern with another gem, a few minutes later.

PSG’s Controversial Penalty

PSG won a controversial handball penalty just on the stroke of halftime with Dembele securing the hosts’ third goal. It was 3-2 at the break.

Brilliant Kavartshkelia & Dembele Score To Give PSG The Advantage

In the second half, the match went a notch higher. Kavartshkelia once again showed his sublime class with a ripper of a strike in the 56th minute to make it 4-2, and two minutes later, Ousmane Dembele buried PSG’s 5th with an awesome strike. The hosts led 5-2 over Bayern, and it appeared that PSG had taken a decisive lead over the Germans before the second leg kicked in next week.

Upamecano & A Sublime Diaz Lead Bayern’s Fight Back

Bayern, however, are an extremely formidable unit. Upamecano guided a long ball from Kimmich into the goal, and then Luis Diaz displayed exceptional control, ice-cool composure and scored Bayern’s 4th of the evening. The scorecard read 5-4 in favour of PSG, but Bayern had reduced the deficit to just one goal.

All To Play For In The Reverse Fixture

The next 20-odd minutes in the match were tense, but both teams managed to deny the other. The match ended 5-4, with all to play for in the reverse fixture next week at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Bayern May Just Have The Edge In Munich

In my opinion, the score line from 5-2 to 5-4 has given Bayern a slight edge over PSG. Allianz Arena is Bayern’s fortress, and despite the one-goal deficit, the Bavarians would be licking their fingers as they wait to return the favour.

What a memorable night of Football.
