Two incredible goals from two brilliant South Americans sealed the deal for Inter Miami a few hours ago, in the high altitudes of Sandy, Utah, in an East meets West MLS clash.
Inter Miami kept their undefeated streak intact, and with two back-to-back wins on the road ( first against Colorado Rapids and the second in Utah), it has been a tremendous start to the Managerial stint of Guillermo Hoyos.
The match was more of a cagey affair, and though Miami dominated possession, it did not look that sharp on the field. Real Salt Lake had their chances too, and particularly their forward, Sergi Solans, spilt a simple header from a brilliant cross.
Miami, too, had chances, but Cabral in goal for RSL was up to it and denied Miami. The match was meandering towards a draw with both teams not wanting to lose in front of a record gathering in Sandy.
The match, however, took a decisive turn in the 82nd minute when Rodrigo De Paul produced an exceptional piece of work. RSL were expecting a cross from the corner kick, but instead the ball was played to De Paul, who was rushing from midfield. The Argentinian struck a screamer from his right foot. The ball curled in the air ever so slightly to beat Cabral and enter the net. The crowd was stunned to no end. Miami had taken a big leap towards an important win.
A minute later, Luis Suarez, the 39-year-old Uruguayan, struck the cleanest of volleys with his second touch after getting on to the field. The ball sped in the air and into the net before Cabral could even blink. It was a sensational strike from Suarez. The goal sealed victory for Miami.
Lionel Messi played the entire match at high altitude, laying rest to any fitness concerns as the Herons enjoyed another victory on the Road.
