It is going to be a historic contest tomorrow as Liverpool travel to Everton close by, to play out the first Merseyside Derby at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Liverpool placed 5th on the EPL leaderboard, and Everton placed 8th, with just 5 points separating them. The game has great value as both teams chase European qualification.
Everton, having a fine season under David Moyes, will be eyeing a win against an injury-ridden and pained Liverpool after their exit from the Champions League yet again at the hands of PSG.
Hugo Ekitike’s long absence due to an Achilles’ injury and Alexander Isak still not fully fit to play the entire 90 minutes, Liverpool have issues up front. The loss to PSG must be hurting too.
With the Reds not having any chance of winning any silverware this season, the Merseyside side Derby becomes extremely important. Arne Slot must be under severe pressure to qualify for the Champions League next season at least, and no wonder he will bank on Mo Salah and Szoboszlai to provide the Reds with the vital 3 points.
David Moyes’ healthy side is not going to make life easy for Liverpool, and in my opinion, the Toffees may just have the edge at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as evening sets in Liverpool tomorrow.
