Whenever I look at Bayern Munich, one attribute of the Club continues to amaze me, ‘ Intensity ‘. The Bavarians just cease to bring their guard down and day after day and week after week, take the field with great gumption, sincerity and pride, unmatched by any team in Europe at the moment.
This intensity in the team brings about consistency in performance, resulting in huge success whenever and wherever the team plays. The consistency may be monotonous for some, but it has yielded a century of goals in the Bundesliga already and beyond any club in Europe.
Last night, Bayern travelled to Hamburg to play St Pauli and fired in 5 goals from 5 different players and of course, Harry Kane did not take the field. This is pure intensity and zeal to score and win, which is deeply entrenched in the psyche of Bayern Munich players.
In 29 games in the Bundesliga this season, the stats are nothing but staggering. Bayern has scored 105 goals, which averages out to 3.62 goals per match. The next best is Dortmund with 60 goals, a mammoth difference of 45 goals. Bayern has not conceded much either. In 27 goals against them, they remain the best in goals scored and conceded in the Bundesliga. With a goal difference of 78, Bayern has been truly incredible.
With the Bundesliga almost in the bag now, and if the sailing is smooth in the next few games, Bayern will win the Championship before the end of the season. The question is, are the Bavarians hungry for more, and can they win the Champions League this time?
Vincent Kompany deserves some serious accolades.
