Rudi Völler, one of the greats of German football, had high praise for the 40-year-old, former German and current Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
The press has been talking about him after his sensational performance against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu a couple of nights ago. Neuer made at least 9 good saves with a few incredible ones to deny some of the finest strikers in the world today. Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, Güler, Bellingham, etc., all had their efforts blocked by a brilliant Neuer as he moved with startling alacrity and put his body on the line to subdue the opposition.
Neuer’s heroics eventually led to a 2-1 victory for Bayern Munich in the 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final, with the return leg slated to be held in Munich next week. Neuer ensured that Bayern left Madrid with their noses in front.
Even at the age of 40, Neuer continues to be the best goalkeeper in Germany by far, and though he has bid goodbye to international duties, there is a mighty clamour for the big goalie to return to International duties at the upcoming World Cup.
Manuel Neuer’s resumé is one to be envious of. The German legend boasts of a FIFA World Cup Championship, 2 UEFA Champions League titles, a staggering 12 Bundesliga crowns, and 2 FIFA Club World Cup titles.
Manuel Neuer just continues to defy age and the opposition whenever he dons the keeping gloves for his Club.
