It’s Revenge Time As Sweden Clash With Poland In A WC Qualifier

The Strawberry Arena in Solna, Sweden will witness a high octane clash between hosts Sweden and Poland in a ‘winner takes all’ battle tonight, with a place in the FIFA World Cup up for grabs. In 2022, Sweden were knocked over by Poland and hence the Nordics will be gunning for revenge.

Poland on the other hand have yet to beat Sweden on Swedish soil in almost a century with their last win recorded in 1930. With so much to play for, the contest has raised massive interest across Europe and the World.

Sweden are in prime form after an emphatic 3-1 win over Ukraine in the play-off semifinal, with their star and Arsenal midfielder Viktor Gyökeres registering a brilliant hat trick.

Poland got past Albania 2-1 in a close game in Warsaw. Poland were down a goal, but the legendary Lewandowski and Zieliñski, scored in the second half to earn Poland the right to fight Sweden for a place on the World Cup.

Viktor Gyökeres will remain a big threat and Sweden’s Manager Graham Potter will be hoping the Arsenal star to shine against Poland. Anthony Elanga, the Newcastle forward will also be a huge boost for Sweden.

Poland will largely depend on Lewandowski to guide them to the final. A lot hangs on the Barcelona star’s shoulders, though the young Jakub Kaminski will have a great opportunity to showcase his talent in a critical game.

Sweden will start as favourites in their home turf, but Poland are a resilient bunch of players. Can the Vikings get past the East Europeans?.

We shall know tonight.
