Turkiye vs Kosovo : The Winner Takes All

The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying path for both Türkiye and Kosovo has reached its climax. Following their semi-final victories on March 26, the two nations are set to face off in a “winner-takes-all” playoff final on 31st March at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium in Pristina, Kosovo.

The winner qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will join Group D alongside the United States, Australia, and Paraguay.

High Stakes

Türkiye is looking to end a 24-year World Cup drought (their last appearance was in 2002). Conversely, Kosovo—a nation barely a decade into its FIFA affiliation—is one win away from their first-ever major tournament.

Some Fine Players to Watch Out For

Arda Güler, the young Turk and Real Madrid midfielder is one to watch out for Türkiye in the years to come. His vision and creativity will be essential in breaking down a resilient Kosovo defense. Yilmaz and Yildiz too could be a handful for any defense in the world. Not to forget Ugurcan Cakir, the Turkish goalkeeper who has been in exceptional form this year.

Fisnik Asllani The 23-year-old Kosovo striker has been in exceptional form and remains Kosovo’s primary goal threat following their brilliant 4-3 win over favourites Slovakia in the Path C semi-final. Vedat Muriqi who plays for Mallorca and Florent Muslija would be gunning for the Turks.

Home Advantage for the Dark Horses

Though Türkiye are the favourites to cross the line, Kosovo will have the backing of a passionate 14,000-strong crowd in Pristina and may cause a few headaches to Türkiye’s ambitions.

It is going to be an interesting clash in Pristina. Türkiye might just have the edge.
