Arsenal & Manchester City To Clash At Wembley On Sunday – Carabao Cup Final

Arsenal vs Manchester City at Wembley

The Master against the Apprentice is what is being said about the first major final of the season in English Football this Sunday.

London is already under the grip of the epic clash between Arsenal and Manchester City in the Carabao EFL Cup Final to be played at Wembley this Sunday evening. There is a sense of expectation and a nervy undercurrent as the Gunners take on City.

With Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola facing each other in the final, an apprentice vs the master narrative is being spread to keep the pot boiling. No wonder this is an extremely important game and an opportunity for both teams to latch on to some silverware.

Arsenal have had a trophy drought in the past decade, with only the 2020 FA Cup to show for their efforts, while Manchester City under Pep Guardiola have been more than just dominant in the similar period. Just to get the facts clear Manchester City have won 6 of the last 8 EPL seasons, which is a staggering statistic and a testament to their dominance in England.

In the EFL Carabao Cup too, Manchester City have won 5 in the past decade. For Arsenal, therefore, there is a great chance of ending their massive trophy drought, but will have to play out of their skins to get past a team which has the habit of winning trophies.

The teams too are fairly evenly matched and though Erling Haaland has had a dry spell off late with injuries, his return to the field will only bolster City. Antoine Semenyo and Doku have the ability to give nightmares to oppositions. But Arsenal have great depth with the fantastic Eze, Saka, Trossard and Declan Rice in the armoury.

Arsenal have played brilliantly this season and lead City by 9 points in the EPL title race and without a doubt have played better than City. Mikel Arteta probably has his best chance to upstage his mentor Pep Guardiola at Wembley on Sunday.
