Ivan Toney has had an incredible career. The highly talented striker first played a crucial role in Brentford’s surge from a little known club to one of the brightest ones in the English Premier League. He then made it to England’s National Football Team and then moved to Saudi Arabia, where he has established himself as one of the finest strikers in the Roshn Saudi League.
Ivan Toney missed a penalty against Al-Najma last night, but then scored a magnificent hat trick in Al-Ahli Saudi’s emphatic 4-1 win. The Al-Ahlis are giving both Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr a run for their money in good measure. With the win last night, Al-Ahli are on the same points with Al-Hilal and one point ahead of Al-Nassr. Though Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr have a game in hand, Ivan Toney’s performance has tightened up the Title race.
In 22 games in the RSL season so far, Ivan Toney has scored a staggering 23 goals, out of the 44 goals scored by his team. He is leading the Golden Boot race, with Julian Quinones ( with 21 goals, even Julian has been on fire for Al-Qadsiyah) and Cristiano Ronaldo ( 18), trailing him.
With his exceptional performance in Saudi Arabia, Toney has regenerated European interest, and though he is happy to stay at Al-Ahli Saudi, his move to Europe and in particular England may not be ruled out next season. He might be a perfect fit for a struggling Tottenham Hotspur. Ivan Toney has even rekindled his hopes of being called up to the national team with the World Cup fast approaching in June.
Ivan, however, has taken the Saudi League by storm, and if he continues scoring big, Al-Ahli Saudi might well have a great chance of winning the Saudi League. He is indeed the most feared striker in Saudi Arabia this season.
