Diogo Jota : A Liverpool Player For Eternity

Diogo Jota Dies

The World of Football and even otherwise is mourning. Diogo Jota, Portugal’s and Liverpool’s player and his younger brother Andre Silva, tragically died in a car accident early Thursday morning, drowning football fans, players et al, into deep sorrow.

Diogo Jota was having the time of his life. He had won the English Premier League with Liverpool and also the UEFA Nations League for Portugal and to top it all, had got married to his long time girl friend and mother to his 3 children a few days ago. Life was sublime but Jota hardly knew what catastrophic times were in store.

While returning to Portugal from Spain with his younger brother ( a fine football player too) , early Thursday morning, the Lamborghini in which the two brothers were travelling met with a terrible accident killing both Jota and Andre Silva.

The loss is enormous, even more than words can define. Just sparing a thought for the parents who lost both their sons, a newly married bride who lost her husband and little children who lost their father, makes me numb. It is indeed a horrific, dreadful tragedy.

Tragedies like that of Jota’s, remind us of the unpredictability of life and that whatever we plan and think of the future, we just cannot control it. We need to keep thanking the Almighty and express our gratitude for every breath we take, for every sunrise we witness and for every second we spend with our loved ones.

Diogo Jota will go down as a Liverpool player for eternity, and there is no denying the fact that his family will ‘ Never Walk Alone ‘.

RIP Diogo & Andre.
