Bundesliga’s 63rd Season Begins 22nd August
The 63rd Season of Bundesliga is set to commence from 22nd August’25 and culminate on the 16th of May 2026. The fixtures will be announced on the 27th of June. Bayern Munich shall be ready to defend their title for the umpteenth occasion. Hamburger SV and 1.FC Köln will return to the top league in place of Holstein Kiel and Vfl Bochum which were relegated last season.
1.FC Köln Bundesliga 2 Winners
Based in Cologne in North Rhine Westphalia, 1.FC Köln were promoted to Bundesliga after winning the Bundesliga 2 title last season. Popularly known ‘ The Billy Goats ‘ would be returning to the top league after a year of absence. Managed by Lucas Kwasniok, the 44 year old from Poland, Köln have had a great year in Bundesliga 2 last season.
The Billy Goats Return Just After A Year
The Billy Goats surely will not be pushovers considering the form they have shown off late, particularly at their home ground ‘RheinEnergieStadion’. The club’s rivalry with Borussia Mönchengladbach with whom Cologne contest the Rhine Derby and with Bayer Leverkusen, another club from the Rhineland, will be interesting to watch in the Bundesliga this season.
Hamburger SV To Return After 7 Years
Hailing from Hamburg, the Hamburger SV Club would be returning to the Bundesliga after a gap of 7 years. Nicknamed ‘Die Rothosen’ ( The Red Shorts), Hamburger SV were Runner’s Up in the Bundesliga 2 Competition and thus secured their place in the premier league. Coached by Merlin Polzin, Hamburger has rivalries with Werder Bremen and FC St. Pauli with whom they compete in the Nordderby and Hamburg Derby respectively and will also be locking horns in the Bundesliga.
It will be interesting to see if Bayern Munich hold on to another title or will there arise a Challenger to the hegemony of Bayern. I am placing my bets on Vfb Stuttgart.
