Breathtaking From Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka, the World no. 1, produced a breathtaking third set to oust defending Champion Iga Swiatek, thus ending her three-year reign and a phenomenal 26-match winning streak at Roland Garros.

A Gripping Contest

It was a gripping contest between two champion players. Sabalenka took the early lead in the first set and raced to 4-1 before Swiatek, playing on her favourite surface made a fine recovery to push the set into the tie-breaker. Sabalenka, with her booming returns, won the tie-break emphatically with a 7-1 margin. However, the tide was slowly turning, and Swiatek was in ascendancy.

Iga Swiatek Plays Her Part

After exchanging a couple of breaks early in the 2nd set, Swiatek settled well, played superbly, holding Sabalenka at bay and eventually winning the second set 6-4. The defending Champion had got the match on an even keel, setting up a mouth-watering third set.

Sabalenka Moves Up Another Gear In A Sublime 3rd Set Performance

Aryna, however, managed to switch into another gear in the 3rd set. She was sensational with her serves, powerful with her strokes, and returned the Swiatek serve with aplomb. The power and finesse peaked in Sabalenka’s game as she ran away with the set and the match 7-6, 4-6, 6-0. A terrific match worthy of a final culminated quickly in the end.

Sabalenka looks good for another Grand Slam. The World No. 1 shall be the favourite on Saturday evening.
