LSG vs SRH : LSG Knocked Over
Struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a fine batting performance to chase down a decent 205 and knock out the Lucknow Super Giants from the IPL Playoffs, in Lucknow last night.
Heartbreak For LSG As Abhishek Plays a Blinder
It was heartbreak for the Lucknowites as the already distant playoff position rapidly disappeared as Abhishek Sharma delivered stunning blows and belted the LSG bowlers around the park. His 59 off just 20 balls gave SRH a massive headstart. Ishan Kishan and then Klassen and Kamindu Mendis built on the platform and crossed the line with ease.
Ineffective LSG Bowling
The Lucknow bowlers, barring the very impressive Digvesh Rathi, were ineffective and unable to control proceedings when Abhishek Sharma got going. The match slipped from LSG’s hands in the power play itself, and they never could regain control.
Marsh & Markram: The Impressive Duo
Marsh and Markram batted beautifully for LSG, and a score in excess of 220 was on the cards. But once they both departed and Rishabh Pant fell early the umpteenth time, the momentum was lost, and though Nicholas Pooran chipped in with a good 40, 205, which LSG got was clearly gettable, and so it happened.
An Inconsistent LSG…
It was a campaign where Lucknow Super Giants blew hot and cold, and their inconsistencies both with the bat and ball at crucial junctures eventually cost them a playoff position yet again. A fantastic team on paper just could not deliver when it mattered most.
… Even Worse For SRH
SRH, without Travis Head, played well. They pulled in Lucknow when the Nawabs were batting and then kept their cool when the chase began. For SRH too, their bowling was wafer thin, and the batting collapsed under its own weight of expectations.
