PSG Were the Favourites At Parc des Princes
Paris Saint Germain (PSG) were favorites to get past Arsenal after their 1-0 victory in the 1st Leg at the Emirates Stadium as they took up the field at their fortress ‘ Parc des Princes ‘ in the French Capital, sans their talismanic striker Ousmane Dembele.
Arsenal Put PSG On A Leash But Brilliant Donnarumma Stays Defiant.
Arsenal, however, came out with all guns blazing and peppered the PSG box. Had it not been for Donnarumma, Arsenal would have scored at least twice early in the first half. The Italian goalkeeper was simply sensational. He saved a close-range hit from Bukayo Saka and then produced a spectacular save of a thunderous Odegaard strike. Arsenal were denied, and PSG survived the early blushes.
Fabian Ruiz’s Sensational Strike For PSG Against The Run of Play
It was not destined to be an easy night for the Gunners, as against the run of play, PSG scored in the 27th minute. Fabian Ruiz, the Spanish midfielder, produced a goal of a lifetime. A stunner it was, a screamer with tremendous precision. David Raya just did not have a chance. PSG were 2-0 ahead on aggregate.
Achraf Hakimi Adds Another
Arsenal kept the pressure on, but once again PSG found the net. Achraf Hakimi, the brilliant Moroccan, struck in the 72nd minute with a sublime finish. Hakimi’s ability to score and his strength in defence have made him a critical player for PSG. The day’s second goal pushed Arsenal further into a corner and virtually sealed off the tie for PSG.
Donnarumma Continues To Impress, But Saka Scores
Donnarumma continued to impress and held the Gunners at bay, particularly Bukayo Saka, who was terrific with his play and deservedly scored a consolation goal in the 76th minute for Arsenal.
PSG Prevail & Luis Enrique Rejoices
PSG eventually prevailed with a 3-1 aggregate. Luis Enrique was jumping up and down with sheer joy. The PSG Manager with the Ligue 1 Title already has a great chance of winning the Champions League too. The fans celebrated much through the Paris night.
It is PSG vs Inter For The European Title
All roads are bound for Munich, where PSG and a resurgent Inter Milan would lock horns for the biggest prize in Europe.
