The Headlines in Formula 1 in 2025 cannot be completed without Oscar Piastri. The Australian has made a sensational start this season and his performance at the Crypto. com  Miami Grand Prix was no different.

Speed & Drama At The Miami International Autodrome

The Miami International Autodrome, located in Hard Rock Stadium in Florida having a circuit length of 5.412 kms witnessed an absorbing race replete with great speeds, enthralling manoeuvres and lots of drama. The 57 lap race eventually saw the dominance of the McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris over the entire field including the reigning Formula 1 Champion Max Verstappen.

Verstappen Takes Pole But Falters on Race Day

Miami saw the second consecutive pole position grasped by Verstappen in the qualifications only to be overtaken by the belligerent drivers of McLaren on Race Day. In Jeddah, Verstappen at least found a podium finish, but in Miami was pushed to the 4th.

Piastri & Norris Chase Down Verstappen

As the race began, Lando Norris placed second on the grid, tried to over take Verstappen at the first bend, but failed and in the milee slipped to 6th position while Oscar Piastri in 4th virtually flew from the blocks and got behind Verstappen, as a heated chase ensued.

No Stopping the McLaren Duo

On the 14th lap Lando Norris closed in on both Verstappen and Piastri and though Piastri had a chance to get past Verstappen, Norris’ entry as such delayed the inevitable by another 4 laps. Verstappen eventually was overtaken by both Piastri and Norris and once there was clear air in front of the McLaren duo, there was no stopping them.

Piastri Wins His 4th Race Of The Year

Oscar Piastri powered through with a cool demeanor and a calm head behind the wheel to thwart his compatriots move to the chequered flag to win his 4th race of the year and take his points tally to 131 points. Norris came a close second.

Verstappen Stands 4th, Complains, To No Avail

Verstappen was pushed to the 4th by Mercedes driver George Russell. Red Bull lodged a protest against Russell for not slowing down in the yellow flag zone, but the protest was rejected by FIA and eventually Verstappen had to settle for a 4th place finish.

Hamilton Voices Displeasure With The Scuderia

There was drama unfolding in the Ferrari camp when a visibly irritated Lewis Hamilton was instructed to let compatriot Charles Leclerc pass him. Not happy with the Scuderia, Hamilton settled for 8th position behind Leclerc, but not before voicing his displeasure.

Oscar Piastri The Clear Title Favourite

Indeed, it was an exciting race with great news for Oscar Piastri who slowly but steadily is becoming the clear favourite to win the Championship this year. On the other hand, Red Bull and Max Verstappen are finding it difficult to match the speed and performance of McLaren and it so appears that the Championship might just be slipping away from the Dutchman.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Coming Up Next

Next up, the Race no. 7, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on the 18th of May shall be held at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. What a spectacle it is going to be.
