AL-Ittihad Hold The Aces As The Roshn Saudi Pro League Nears Conclusion

Al-Ittihad Hold All The Aces

Al-Ittihad & A Decent Lead At The Top

Al-Ittihad had a few nervous moments when their previous match against Al-Ettifaq became closer than expected and threatened to wipe away Al-Ittihad’s lead. 3-1 ahead and cruising, Danilo Pereira unfortunately scored an own goal, and Al-Ettifaq, who had dominated proceedings in the second half, looked to draw the match. However, Al-Ittihad held on to collect an extremely vital 3 points to maintain a decent lead at the top of the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal & Al-Nassr Are Close Behind

With 29 matches completed and another 5 to go, the Karim Benzema-led Al-Ittihad are perched at the top with 68 points, followed by Al-Hilal with 62, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr placed third with 60 points. Al-Hilal drew their last encounter against Al-Shabab despite having a lead, and then Al-Nassr escaped with a narrow win over Damac to make matters interesting at the top. Al Ghanam scored in stoppage time to take Al Nassr to an exhilarating victory at the Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in Abha.

Al-Ittihad Hold The Cards

As the table stands, Al-Ittihad hold all the cards, and it is their Championship to lose. The yellow and black striped tigers would be taking on the mighty Al-Nassr on the 7th of May, a match akin to the El Clásico. Karim Benzema would be locking horns with his Real Madrid compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo in a crucial tie at the Al-Awwal Park, home to Al-Nassr. Al-Ittihad would be tested away from home, and a slip in the game may cost them dear.

Al-Hilal All Focussed On Pro League

Al-Hilal on the other hand would be focussing on the Saudi Pro League after losing to Al Ahli Saudi in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League last night. The loss would be hurting and their next encounter against Al-Raed away from home on the 7th of May would be an interesting one.

Al-Nassr Play Kawasaki Tonight

In the interim, Al-Nassr would be taking on Kawasaki, the Japanese Club in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League tonight in Riyadh.  A victory for Ronaldo’s side would set up a terrific final on the 3rd of May.
