Cristiano Ronaldo ‘s Al Nassr Host Al Riyadh
The Al Awwal Park was all decked in yellow as hosts Al Nassr, captained by Cristiano Ronaldo, welcomed Al Riyadh on Match Day 27 of the Saudi Pro League. With the title race still not over and Al Nassr having regained some good form in the past week or so, there was all to play for, for the men in yellow and blue.
Al Riyadh Dominate Al Nassr In The First Half
The match, however, was not a fast-paced affair, and Al Riyadh dominated the first half against a surprisingly subdued Al Nassr outfit. The lethargy, in a way, came costly as Al Riyadh, after a series of attacks, got one through Bento as their right winger Faiz Selemani ( from Comoros) scored for the visitors at the stroke of half-time. The goal left Ronaldo shaking his head in disbelief.
Cristiano Ronaldo Turns It Around
The second half saw a much-improved performance from Al Nassr. Sadio Mane from the left virtually came to life. His fine run and an equally good pass to a waiting Cristiano Ronaldo in the centre led to Al Nassr’s equaliser in the 56th minute, a simple tap-in for the Portuguese great.
Sublime Ronaldo Scores A Brilliant Goal
Ronaldo, once again, showed his sublime skills with a powerful strike from the edge of the box. It was a shot worthy of going miles to see. The pace and direction of the ball left the goalkeeper no chance as the ball hurried into the top left corner of the goal. The shot was a real ripper. Al Nassr were ahead.
Al Nassr Hang On To Win
The Hosts hung on to the lead despite some tense moments and a few strikes which hit the goalpost to deny Al Riyadh the equaliser.
Ronaldo Scores His 23rd Goal Of The Season
Al Nassr eventually won the game and are just 1 point behind second-placed Al Hilal. Cristiano Ronaldo extended his pole position as the highest scorer this season to 23 goals.
