A tough encounter was on the cards, but Liverpool, gifted with such remarkable flair produced yet another fine performance at home against Newcastle.
Dominic Szoboszlai has been a revelation this season for Liverpool and the Hungarian yet again proved his scoring mettle. He scored with the ball going in between a couple of feet, beating the goalkeeper and easily resting at the back of the net. The Reds were ahead in the 14th minute.

Mo Salah who just cannot be kept out of action, produced another display of ball skills and a cool demeanor. He dribbled past Newcastle defenders, held the ball tightly to his feet, created space and then passed on to a waiting Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentinian struck as clean as a whistle and buried the ball in the net. The finish was classical from Mac Allister and Liverpool had doubled their lead in the 63rd minute.
The free flowing football for which Newcastle have been a fine exponent this season, was absent from view. The absence of Alexander Isak hampered Newcastle’s fortunes and though Callum Wilson was unleashed upfront, he could not make much of an impact. Newcastle were not in their elements and did not pose much of a threat to Liverpool.
With this crucial win Liverpool strengthened their grip further on the EPL Championship with a good 13 point lead over Arsenal.
