Celtic Make It Tough For The Bavarians
Bayern Munich appeared shaky in the end at Celtic Park and somehow survived a Scottish onslaught in the last few minutes of the game. With the intimidating Scottish fans backing their team to the hilt, Bayern survived by a whisker to post an important away win in the UEFA Champions League play offs 1st leg.
The Magical Olise
Vincent Kompany would have preferred a much easier outing ( at least on paper it seemed so) and it was exactly the way the match was heading when 23 year old Michael Olise produced a ripper of a strike to put Bayern ahead at the stroke of halftime. Olise one of the most sought after French players was exceptional with his ball control and absolutely sublime with the finish.
The Dependable Harry Kane
Harry Kane, the most prolific scorer in Europe at least, netted a superbly struck volley with his left foot off a corner kick to give Bayern an invincible 2-0 lead. The Englishman lying completely unmarked in acres of space punished Celtic for their grave error.
Maeda Scores For Celtic
Celtic, however did not hold back and after repeated runs into the Bayern box, Japanese Maeda scored with a header in a goal mouth scramble. Celtic had reduced the deficit and as the fans got behind them, the last few minutes gave Bayern the jitters. But Bayern survived to close out the match 2-1.
An Uphill Task For the Scotts
With this away win Bayern would be in a much stronger position in the second leg to be held at the Allianz Arena in Munich. For Brendon Rogers Celtic it would be an uphill task.
