A Glimmer Of Revival
A glimmer of revival was witnessed at the Etihad last night as a beleaguered Manchester City got the better of Chelsea in a splendid display of Football at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. The defending Champions winning 3-1 after conceding an early goal, moved to 4th on the EPL Leaderboard.
Lots Of Early Nerves For City ‘s Khusanov
City started with lots of nerves. Debutant 20 year old Uzbek Abdukodir Khusanov gave away the first and the only goal to Chelsea in the 3rd minute and again a few minutes later let the ball slip, but Ederson made a fine save. The young central defender was all at sea probably overawed by the situation.
Gvardiol Scores As Marmoush Debut’s For City
Once the jangling nerves settled down, Manchester City played much much better. Another debutant, the much tlked about Omar Marmoush, the Egyptian joining City from the Bundesliga, played well, though could not get himself on the score sheet. Gvardiol, City’s versatile left back got a few chances to score and eventually his enterprising existence on the field gave City the equaliser in the 42nd minute.
A Robert Sanchez Error And Haaland Scores
Robert Sanchez, Chelsea’s goalkeeper left the comforts of his box to chase a ball which was beyond his reach. The indiscretion gave Erling Haaland a chance and he ensured a fine finish. Haaland’s 17th goal of the season helped City into the lead.
Phil Foden On A High
Phil Foden, high on confidence with his return to scoring goals. Delivered the final punch with a fine run and a sublime finish on the 86th minute. How good Foden has been can be read from the stats. He scored his 6th goal in 4 matches.
Chelsea Outplayed
Chelsea had their chances but were outplayed by a more purposeful team. The defence from City too held up well and Ederson was good too.
The blue moon may just be rising… again.
