Liverpool Fight Their Nemesis

Liverpool came through their nemesis this season, surviving to fight another day as they managed to snare away a point against the vastly improved and belligerent Nottingham Forest.  The Reds forced a 1-1 draw at the City Ground in Nottingham as Match Day 21 unfolded in the English Premier League.

Chris Wood Scores Again For Nottingham

Nottingham Forest have been the flavour of the season and have surprised all and sundry with their plucky play led by Chris Wood who has been in scintillating form for Forest. It took the hosts just 4 minutes to get into the lead when Elanga made a lovely pass to Chris Wood opening up the Liverpool defence, who made yet another cool finish to put Nottingham in the lead. Liverpool Get Frustrated

I have been impressed by the solid football Manager Nuno has ensured with Nottingham. They are very good on the counter and extremely organised when defending. No wonder Liverpool began to get frustrated as they were unable to get past Nottingham.

Jota Scores After Slot Rings In The Changes

An inspired substitution by Arne Slot resulted in the equaliser. Tsimikas and Diogo Jota came on together and combined to score. Barely 22 seconds on the field Tsimikas took the corner and Jota headed the ball home from close range. Liverpool had levelled in the 66th minute.

Liverpool Go on The Offensive But Sels Stalls

The goal was a shot in the arm for Liverpool who went on the offensive and had it not been for a sensational display of goalkeeping from Matz Sels, Liverpool would have scored at least 3 more goals. Jota had two  clear chances but Sels came in the way. He also thwarted  Salah and Gakpo efforts to ensure that the match ended in a draw.

A Scrappy Game

It was that kind of a scrappy game, where Nottingham’s tenacity and doggedness were tested and they came out well.

Liverpool Stay on Top,  Forest Are Second

Liverpool stay on top and would be travelling to Brentford to face the bees on Saturday, while Nottingham Forest sitting pretty in the second place on the EPL leaderboard would be hosting Southampton on Sunday.
