Liverpool had scraped past Brighton a few days ago in the EFL Carabao Cup and were meeting the Seagulls again for the second time in the week in a crucial Premier League encounter at Anfield.
A Kadioglu Ripper Puts Brighton Ahead
Brighton & Hove Albion have been a revelation in English Football since their entry into the EPL a few years ago. They are one such side who have made the most of their elevation to the Premier League and have in a way cemented their place as one of the better sides in the competition. Therefore, it was no surprise when Brighton took the lead just 14 minutes into the game. Ferdi Kadioglu, Brighton’s young Turkish winger, produced pure magic with a powerful right footer. Kelleher ( Liverpool’s goalkeeper) stretched but the ball sped across him, caught the inside of the post and went in. It was a ripper of a strike.

Liverpool Persevere But Brighton Defend
Liverpool kept persevering, but Brighton defended well. The Reds were looking clueless at times unable to get through the defense of Brighton. Salah too had one great chance but could not convert. Nunez struck one beautifully but was undone by a fine save by the goalkeeper.
Gakpo Scores Liverpool’s Equaliser
The second half too appeared to be going Brighton’s way when a Gakpo free kick, sailed over all and sundry and went into the goal. It was the 70th minute and Liverpool had eventually equalised. However, the moment of truth came 2 minutes later.

Mo Salah & The Moment Of Truth
With 72 minutes on the clock, Salah produced one of his trademark moves and a finish so assured that Anfield just erupted. On the edge of the box, Salah moved to his left and unleashed a left foot stunner with power and precision written all over it. The ball curled enough to beat Verbruggen ( who till now was exceptional in goal ) and Liverpool were ahead.
Liverpool Go On Top
Brighton tried hard but Liverpool defended to take away 3 points from a hard game to find themselves at the top of the table.
It was magical Salah…yet again.
