DreRuss : The Purple Maverick

Eden Gardens, KKR’s citadel, witnessed an amazing game of Cricket as the home team KKR locked horns with SRH, on Saturday night. The match lived up to the uncertainties on a cricket pitch as SRH floundered on the brink of victory and KKR kept its nerve to register an exciting win.

Brilliant Klassen Makes an Error

Heinrich Klassen is an exceptional batsman and he showed his range and prowess with his phenomenonal clean hitting. But then one wrong decision from him, unfortunately led to SRH losing the match. Having hit Harshit Rana for a 6 of the first ball of the 20th over, just 7 were needed of the next 5 balls. Just imagine SRH had scored 53 runs of the last 13 balls they had faced. Of the second ball Klassen took a single and got off strike. Had he continued to face the entire over, SRH would have been favourites to win, but it was not to be. Harshit bowled superbly with his slow off cutters and denied SRH. Klassen scored a remarkable 63 of just 29 balls, hitting 8 sixes. He did not hit a single four, such was his brutal display.

DreRuss : The Legend Of KKR

Klassen heroics, however, could not surpass, the great performance from Kolkata’s very own, the mighty Andre ‘DreRuss’ Russell. He is no ordinary cricketer and when it comes to the T20 format, DreRuss is a true match-winner. His 64 of just 25 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes actually turned the game on it’s head. DreRuss has been doing this for years now for KKR and once again proved his worth to his franchise. Not to mention his bowling skills and brilliant fielding. A true athlete, DreRuss has reached legendary status for KKR. A player made for tough situations, DreRuss has delivered for KKR time and again and the match in question was no different. I just can’t get tired of watching him. What a player !!. A true entertainer. The purple Maverick.

Sam Curran Shines..Eventually

Sam Curran, after all the hype last year, eventually came good for Punjab Kings. Sam’s steady knock ensured the Kings overhauled Delhi Capital’s target without much fuss. Rishabh Pant’s return to cricket, was indeed the highlight of the match, though the star cricketer ended up on the losing side. Punjab Kings, unveiled a new Jersey and a new stadium at Mullanpur. Hope it augurs well for the Kings. The start at least has been really good.
