Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most awaited games ever made, and its release date is close. Here is what we know about the date, platforms and the delays that brought it here.

GTA 6 release date

Rockstar Games has set the release for Thursday, 19 November 2026. The studio announced the date after moving the game from its earlier target of 26 May 2026. Before that, the game was originally planned for fall 2025.

Which platforms are confirmed?

GTA 6 is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch. A PC version has not been announced for release day, and reports suggest it would come later. Check Rockstar’s official channels for any change.

The delays

The game has been delayed twice. Rockstar said the extra time would give the team the polish players expect and deserve, and the studio apologised to fans for the wait. Take-Two’s chief executive has repeated the November date in later earnings calls.

Is the date still on track?

In the most recent statements we found, Take-Two and Rockstar were still standing by 19 November. With the date only days away, the safest approach is to follow Rockstar’s official social accounts and website for final launch details, including release timing in your region.

What we do not know yet

Several details were not confirmed in the sources we found, including the exact launch time in India and the final price. Do not rely on unofficial pre-order listings. Wait for the official announcement from Rockstar or your console store.

Preparing for launch

Check the free storage on your console, since large games need plenty of space. Make sure your console is updated, and pre-load the game if your store allows it. Buy only from official stores to avoid scams.

Why the date matters

A November release puts GTA 6 in the holiday season, when many players buy new games. It also affects other publishers, who often plan their own launches around Rockstar’s schedule.
