Kagurabachi

Kagurabachi is a Weekly Shonen Jump dark fantasy about a young swordsmith’s son seeking revenge. Its anime adaptation is set for April 2027 from Cypic. Here is what to know about the story, characters and production.

What Is the Story About?

Chihiro Rokuhira is the 18-year-old son of the late master blacksmith Kunishige Rokuhira, who trained him in childhood with hopes of passing on his legacy. A group murdered Kunishige and stole the Enchanted Blades he forged, but Chihiro survived the attack. He now carries one of the surviving blades and sets out to recover the others and take revenge.

Main Characters

  • Chihiro Rokuhira, the protagonist, voiced in the anime by Taihi Kimura.
  • Kunishige Rokuhira, Chihiro’s late father and master swordsmith.
  • Hakuri Sazanami, a former member of the Sazanami clan who was disowned for his perceived lack of ability and, like Chihiro, wants to avenge Kunishige.

The Anime Adaptation

The anime was officially announced on April 27, 2026 and is scheduled to premiere in April 2027. Cypic, the studio that rebranded from CygamesPictures, will animate it, with CyberAgent and Shochiku producing. Tetsuya Takeuchi, who worked on Sword Art Online II and Heavenly Delusion, directs, and Keigo Sasaki designs the characters. Kimura won Best New Actor at the 20th Seiyu Awards.

World Tour Screenings

To mark the announcement, the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 were shown at anime events around the world starting in summer 2026, with a full Episode 1 premiere planned in Japan before broadcast. The coverage reviewed does not name an international streaming platform, so check official channels for updates.

Why It Has Fans Excited

Kagurabachi has been described as a breakout Shonen Jump series, and the teaser focuses on its stark, revenge-driven tone. If you enjoy Cypic’s other work, see our guide to The Summer Hikaru Died, which the studio also animated.
