Dangers in My Heart

The Dangers in My Heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) is a romantic comedy about a shy boy whose dark thoughts slowly turn into a real bond. Based on Norio Sakurai’s manga, it has two TV seasons and a film. Here is what to know.

What Is the Story About?

Kyotaro Ichikawa is a shy middle school boy who reads a murder encyclopedia and secretly sees himself as the tortured lead of a psychological thriller. He fantasizes about harming his popular classmate, Anna Yamada. But as he gets to know her, those dark thoughts give way to real feelings, and he begins to fall in love.

The Romance at Its Heart

The comedy comes from the gap between Ichikawa’s dramatic inner monologue and his awkward reality, while Yamada teases him for his flustered reactions. Reviewers describe a slow-burn, realistic relationship in a genre full of clichés, which explains why the series built a loyal following by word of mouth.

Main Characters and Cast

  • Kyotaro Ichikawa, voiced by Shuichiro Umeda.
  • Anna Yamada, voiced by Hina Yomiya.
  • Kana Ichikawa, Kyotaro’s older sister.

Seasons, Film and Production

Shin-Ei Animation produced the series. Season 1 aired from April to June 2023, and Season 2 aired from January to March 2024. A compilation film, which recaps the first two seasons and adds about 15 minutes of new footage covering the band arc, opened in Japan on February 13, 2026. Reports list Hiroaki Akagi as director and Reiko Yoshida on series composition.

Season 3 Release Date

A third TV season was announced on March 14, 2026 and is set to air in 2027. The coverage reviewed gives no month or day, so treat any exact date as unconfirmed and check official channels for updates.
