Norway Lose Momentum
Norway’s recent momentum in the UEFA Nations League has taken a sharp hit following consecutive 2-1 losses to Portugal and Wales.
A World Cup Quarter-Finalist Not So Long Ago
Norway had risen dramatically as a force in Europe with Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland, guiding the Vikings, first through a magnificent World Cup qualification campaign and then reaching the quarter-finals for the first time at the FIFA World Cup in North America this year.

Struggling At The Moment
The Norwegians, grouped with Portugal, Wales and Denmark in the UEFA Nations League, were the favourites along with Portugal to top the group and move further in the tournament. However, after a well-fought win against Denmark, the Scandinavians lost to Portugal and then were beaten by Wales after leading in the match. The two losses have come as a setback to Norway, who just cannot afford to lose another game before the end of the International break.

Key Factors Behind Norway’s Setback
Goalkeeping Errors: Experienced goalkeeper Örjan Nyland came under heavy criticism following multiple error-strewn displays. In response, manager Ståle Solbakken confirmed that Brest shot-stopper Egil Selvik will take over as the starting goalkeeper.
Player Setbacks: During their 2-1 loss to Wales, Norway were forced to play much of the second half a man down after defender Torbjørn Heggem received a red card right at the start of the second period.
Lapses In Defence: Norway have also been fragile at the back, losing the ball at crucial stages, which eventually led to goals against them.
Norway Travel To Portugal Tomorrow
Norway travel to Porto to play group leaders Portugal in the reverse fixture on Sunday night. The match will be held at the Estádio do Dragão. A win is a must for the Vikings.
