Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes

Brady Keeps Chiefs in Super Bowl Conversation

Tom Brady is not ready to count out the Kansas City Chiefs. In his latest NFL power rankings, Brady placed the Chiefs at No. 7. He also made a strong statement about quarterback Patrick Mahomes, saying the Chiefs star is playing like himself again after tearing his ACL last December.

Brady explained that Mahomes showed his leadership, discipline, and tenacity in the season opener. He added that Mahomes will continue to improve as the season goes on, even though he missed football and a large part of the offseason. Brady ended his point with a simple warning: never sleep on No. 15.

Mahomes Delivers a Vintage Moment

Mahomes did not have a huge statistical game in the Chiefs’ 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night. He completed 15 of 27 passes for 184 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. However, he also ran for a 15-yard score in the first quarter, which was a vintage Mahomes-style play. Brady pointed out that Mahomes was not avoiding contact and showed he can still contribute to the offense in different ways.

Kenneth Walker III Powers the Chiefs

While Brady focused much of his commentary on Mahomes, he also gave credit to newcomer Kenneth Walker III. Walker dominated on the ground with a career-high 173 rushing yards on 7.5 yards per carry and a touchdown. His 60-yard score in the second half gave Kansas City a decisive advantage. His performance was a major reason the Chiefs were able to control the game and come away with the win.

Brady Knows the Comeback Path

Brady also returned from an ACL injury around the same point in his own career, so he understands what Mahomes is going through. That experience may be why Brady is confident that Mahomes will get back to his best. Brady made it clear that he is not buying the idea that Kansas City is fading. He asked why anyone would count them out and repeated that you should never count them out. The Chiefs have the three-time Super Bowl winner back at quarterback, and Brady believes that matters.

The Formula for Success

Brady closed with the same logic that has carried the Chiefs through multiple championship runs. He said that when you have a great coach and a great quarterback in an organisation with championship standards, you should watch out. The Chiefs have Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and a culture built on winning. According to Brady, that combination is still dangerous. Even after a difficult offseason and a serious injury, Mahomes and the Chiefs remain a team that no one should overlook.
