A New Era for NBA Style and Fandom
Nike has introduced the NBA Standard Issue Collection, a new line that changes how team identity and basketball culture are expressed for players, teams, and fans. The collection covers all 30 NBA teams and is inspired by the next generation of basketball players. It combines performance-focused design, modern fit, and expressive team identity into a connected look for today’s NBA. Each piece draws from different parts of a modern hooper’s world, including the court, stage, movies, gaming, style, and fashion.
What Players Will Wear and What Fans Can Buy
This season, NBA players will wear pieces from the collection every night, during warmups and practices, and while travelling with their teams. For the first time, fans will be able to buy the exact same products that NBA players wear. This creates a direct connection between the league’s look and how fans represent their teams. The collection focuses on today’s unique hooper and also includes Nike’s new NBA Specter Edition uniforms. These uniforms are made for the teams that trace their roots back to the earliest chapters of the league.
Design Inspiration and Features
Ross Klein, VP and Creative Director of Nike Basketball, said that basketball is more than a game and is a culture and form of self-expression. He explained that the collection celebrates the attitude, creativity, and individuality of today’s hoopers while combining bold team identity and modern style so fans can show their connection to the game in their own way. Each of the 30 teams has its own distinct graphics and design details, giving the league a more modern and unified look. The collection includes hoodies, pants, T-shirts, and shorts. It comes in two tones, with bold oversize graphics for those who want to stand out and more understated pieces for those who prefer a quieter expression.
Product Features and Insights
The collection reflects insights from more than 400 elite high school hoopers, 100 NBA athletes, all 30 NBA teams, and players and fans from around the world. Their perspectives helped Nike reimagine the comfort, fit, feel, and expressions of modern NBA on-court and fan apparel. The product features include innovation with Aero-Fit and bouncy fleece that bring lightweight breathability, moisture management, and performance-driven comfort. The fit and movement use Nike Standard Issue Stretch, which combines Dri-FIT warmth and flexibility with modern oversize silhouettes designed for basketball and everyday life. Premium details include custom hardware, braided drawcords, woven labels, and elevated finishes.
The Specter Edition Uniforms
The new Specter Edition uniforms open a new chapter in how team identity appears on court for eight teams: the Sacramento Kings, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Boston Celtics. These teams trace their history back to the earliest chapters of the NBA. Each uniform features details inspired by the franchises’ history, city heritage, and fan culture.
When and Where to Buy
The NBA Standard Issue Collection will be available at nike.com, NBAStore.com, Fanatics, Foot Locker, DICK’S Sporting Goods, and at select retail destinations. It will launch in two drops on September 15 and October 12. The NBA Specter Edition uniforms and apparel will be available later this fall.
A New Connection Between Players and Fans
Michael Brady, Global Head of Merchandise Partnerships and Business Affairs for the NBA, said the collection represents the next evolution of the partnership with Nike. He explained that it redefines how team identity and basketball culture are expressed across the league. By connecting what athletes wear on and around the court with how fans express their passion for the game, the collection brings new energy and a modern look to NBA fandom.
