The New Season Kicks In This Thursday
The 2026–27 Roshn Saudi League (Saudi Pro League) kicks off this week on Thursday, August 13, 2026, marking the start of a 34-round season running through May 29, 2027.
Abha & Al-Hazem Play The First Game
Abha Club, the winners of the 2025/26 First Division League and new entrants in the Roshn League of 18 this year, will start off the new season against Al- Hazem at the Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in Abha at 9.45 pm IST.
The Competition
18 top-tier Saudi clubs will battle across 306 matches. With the League growing in stature by the year with quality talent from across the globe, including European Clubs strengthening it no end. The competition therefore is beginning to be fierce.
The Defending Champions
Al-Nassr, the defending champions with Ange Postecoglou at the helm, will be fighting hard to defend their crown in no uncertain terms. It will be a big test for Postecoglou taking charge after the successful one-year managerial stint of the veteran Jorge Jesus. Cristiano Ronaldo will once again be the focus of attention.
The Major Challengers
Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli Saudi and Al-Qadsiyah will remain the primary challengers to Al-Nassr, with Al-Hilal gunning for the Knights of Najd after being knocked over by them in a close finish last season.
The Promotees
Abha, Al-Faisaly and Diriyah are the new entrants in the 18 team roaster and will be looking to grab the attention of Football fans across the Kingdom and beyond.
