The Wait Continues For Ronaldo & Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo will have to wait for another week to lay his hands on the Roshn Saudi League Trophy and will have to beat Damac in their last game of the season.
A Bento Own Goal Denies Al-Nassr
With seconds away from the title, a Bento own goal denied Al-Nassr a famous victory over the undefeated Al-Hilal after Simakan had given Al-Nassr the lead in the 37th minute. The 1-1 draw has kept Al-Hilal too in the hunt.
A Painful Error
It was a simple ball which Bento could have collected blindfolded, but it was not to be. The ball slipped out of his hands and went into the net in one of the most terrible goalkeeping errors ever witnessed, particularly in the context of the title race. Al-Nassr, till that moment, had done extremely well to keep Al-Hilal at bay. Bento himself had made a few stellar saves to keep his team in the front.
A Cruel Turn of Fate…
It was indeed a cruel turn of fate. It was the last second of the match, and the crowd had already started celebrating Al-Nassr’s victory. The own goal stunned the fans and the players alike. The packed stadium went quiet, as an uneasy din prevailed.
… But Al-Nassr Are Still Favourites to Win the Title
The big prize had been delayed. But it is still in Al-Nassr’s hands as the Knights of Najd will be the favourites to beat Damac in their last game on the 21st of May. Al-Hilal have two games to play against Neom and Al- Fayha, and will need to win both to be in the title race.
The Wait Lingers
Amongst the pain, the wait lingers for Ronaldo and the Yellow brigade.
