Al-Nassr Extend Winning Streak To 20
Al-Nassr extended their winning streak to a record 20 games in all competitions with a comprehensive 2-0 win over Al-Ahli at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh last night.
A Scrappy, Ill-Tempered Affair
The match was a scrappy affair and as such did not live up to the expectations and the hype. Al-Ahli appeared a jaded outfit, drained from the AFC CL competition, while Al-Nassr were not clinical enough at times. It was a rough game too, which hampered the flow of proceedings, which eventually turned into an ill-tempered contest by the end of the match.
A Sublime Header From Cristiano Ronaldo
The two goals, however, shone as bright lights. Cristiano Ronaldo’s header late in the second half from a Joao Felix corner was an incredible strike. Ronaldo rose tall and strong and directed the ball from the side of his head to get the perfect angle. The ball beat the goalkeeper and entered the net, sending the packed stadium into a rapturous applause. Al-Nassr, no wonder, had taken a big leap towards the Saudi League Title.
Kingsley Coman, With A Sensational Effort, Seals It For Al-Nassr
Kingsley Coman, who has been playing very well for Al-Nassr, then struck a sensational goal in the 90th minute to seal the match for the Knights of Najd. The strike was laced with tremendous power and precision. The ball travelled with such speed in the air that it was past the goalkeeper before he could raise his hands to stop it.
Ugly Scenes At The End
The match then turned a bit ugly as players from both teams got embroiled in verbal barbs and a bit of pushing around, which unfortunately continued beyond the long whistle.
Al-Nassr Need To Stay Guarded As Al-Qadsiyah Is Next
For Al-Nassr, it was a terrific victory in the context of the title. With this win, the Riyadh Club, under the watchful eye of Jorge Jesus, has one hand on the trophy now. But of course, they need to be alert and cannot let their guard down, as they travel to Dammam to face Al-Qadsiyah on Sunday night.
