Chelsea reversed a three-match losing streak in all competitions to deny Leeds United a spot in the FA Cup Finals against Manchester City.
The two teams were separated by a 23rd-minute goal from Enzo Fernandes in a game which could have gone either way.
Leeds United were not holding back and gave a testing time to Chelsea’s defence, and in particular their goalkeeper Sanchez who made a brilliant save to deny Leeds after Brendan Aaronson had a great chance to get ahead.
The save literally lifted the Blues as Pedro Neto played beautifully in a lovely patch of play by Chelsea. Eventually, the moment of truth arrived when Enzo Fernandes headed home a fine cross from Pedro Neto.
Chelsea held on in a slugfest that ensued and scraped home to make it to their 17th FA Cup Final.
The Blues eventually had something to smile about after their horrific run in the Premier League and the sacking of their manager, Liam Rosenior.
A victory in the first game in charge for interim Manager Calum McFarlane will boost his confidence and also that of his team.
Leeds gave it their best and had their chances too, but it was not the day of the Peacocks.
A Test in the form of Manchester City awaits Chelsea at Wembley again.
