This weekend’s matchup between the Colorado Rapids and Inter Miami CF is a high-stakes clash between two of the league’s most potent attacks. Scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Empower Field at Mile High, this game is expected to draw a record-breaking crowd.
Team News
Colorado Rapids are 6th in the Western Conference after 7 games. Their ability to attack and score goals has made them one of the most exciting teams to watch under their new coach, Matt Wells. Brazilian striker Rafael Navarro, with 9 contributions in 19 goals for Colorado Rapids, is the player to watch out for. His brace against the Houston Dynamo showcased his goal-scoring skills.
Inter Miami, led by the legend Lionel Messi and the defending champions of the MLS, have had a lot going on in the past few days. Javier Mascherano, their coach under whom Inter Miami were crowned MLS Champions last year, left the club citing personal reasons in a sudden move. Angel Guillermo Hoyos has taken over on an interim basis. Lionel Messi will always be a threat, which the Rapids would be aware of. Inter Miami have had a decent run this season and are placed 3rd in the Eastern Conference.
Match Expectations
In Denver, the high altitude will be an advantage to the Colorado Rapids, whilst Inter Miami might just find it a bit difficult to keep the lungs breathing without pressure.
Inter Miami, however, have the class to survive any challenge, and though the Rapids might just have the edge for a moment, Inter Miami, in my opinion, have it in them to get past the Rapids on Saturday evening.
Lionel Messi in action is a great treat and will be watched by a record attendance at Mile High.
