Manchester City Trample Liverpool On Way To FA Cup Semis

Manchester City produced a performance to remember at the Etihad Stadium last evening in demolishing a feeble Liverpool challenge in the FA Cup quarter finals. City who already have gobbled up the EFL Carabao Cup, now appear the favorites to add another trophy to their already glittering cabinet.

Liverpool were unfortunately woeful across the turf. The defence was time and again cut open by City, the midfield was rather clueless and the finishing was awful upfront. To add to the misery Mo Salah missed a penalty too. Indeed it was a day to forget for Liverpool fans.

Erling Haaland returned to his scoring best with three fine goals including a penalty. A header which was brilliantly executed by the big Norwegian and then a simple strike in front of an open goal.

Haaland’s hat trick was also the result of some fine play from City which time and again caught Liverpool’s defence off guard. Van Dijk was embarrassed as he was found out of place at times, while the goalkeeping too was average from Liverpool.

Antoine Semenyo, who has really bolstered the City side since his arrival, scored a fine goal too, resulting in a 4-0 hammering of Liverpool, severely denting their hopes of a Trophy this season.

Liverpool fans came heavily on Mo Salah and van Dijk and lent their fury on the senior players. Arne Slot, the Manager too wasn’t spared and in my opinion needs to take some blame for such an under par performance.

Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, enjoyed the moment as his team marches on towards another title. The EPL too is not over yet with Manchester City breathing down Arsenal’s throat.
