Al-Nassr beat Al-Kholood

Al-Nassr ensured another vital 3 points from their away game against Al-Kholood at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraydah, last night. An emphatic 3-0 victory saw Al-Nassr move to second position on goal difference, with Al-Ahli Saudi close on their heels in 3rd.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 961st goal of his career as Al-Nassr displayed much more intent and purpose in the second half after an unusually flat goalless first half. Tension was writ large on Manager Jorge Jesus as a victory was least expected. It had to be a comprehensive one to stay ahead of Al-Ahli. His bouts of anger with his players showed the prevailing pressure on him.

Joao Felix was a revelation in the second half, and though he did not score, he was outstanding in the field. The Al-Kholood defence was at his mercy as he played with great control and imagination, eventually setting up Ronaldo to score in a brilliant, fluid move involving Mane, Angelo and himself.

Felix then had another assist with a fine corner kick. It was played perfectly for Simakan to head home Al-Nassr’s second goal. In the 90th minute, Kingsley Coman scored a penalty to finish off the match.

With four straight wins in the Roshn Saudi League, Al-Nassr have bounced back after a brief slump in form. However, with the title race getting tighter after every game, the Knights of Najd just cannot lower their guard. They need to believe in themselves. No wonder they can still win it.
