It was yet another flawless performance from the defending Champion Jannik Sinner against Ben Shelton at the Rod Laver Arena this evening.
Sinner, though, was the favourite to win the tie; there were expectations of a tough, gritty contest as an ever-improving young American Ben Shelton was playing some fiery tennis. However, the defending champion was imperious at times and hardly gave any opportunity to Shelton in the match.
It was the Italian’s grit and determination that prevailed over Shelton for the 9th time in a row, as the Italian surged ahead of his challenger in a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 straight sets victory in the quarter-final.
Sinner will play 10-time Australian Open Champion Novak Djokovic in the Semis on Friday.
